چکیده مقاله:

In this paper, based on the coupled-mode and carrier rate equations, a dynamic model and numerical analysis of a multi quantum well (MQW) chirped distributed feedback semiconductor optical amplifier (DFB-SOA)  all-optical flip-flop is precisely derived. We have analyzed the effects of strains of QW and MQW and cross phase modulation (XPM) on the dynamic response, and rise and fall times of the DFB-SOA all optical flip flop. We have shown that strained MQW active region under an optimized condition into a DFB-SOA with chirped grating can improve the switching ON speed limitation in the abovementioned device, significantly while the fall time is increased. The values of the rise times for such an all optical flip-flop, are obtained in an optimized condition, areas tr=255ps.

SPM Response of a Distributed Coupling Coefficient DFB- SOA All-Optical Flip-Flop

Deriving a dynamic model based on the coupled-mode and carrier rate equations, the effects of coupling coefficient and corrugation position on all-optical flip-flops (AOFF) we have analyzed in this paper. Also the self phase modulation (SPM) in the distributed coupling coefficient distributed feedback semiconductor optical amplifier (DCCDFB-SOA) has been implemented. Then the effects of SPM on ...

All-optical flip-flop operation of VCSOA

An all-optical flip-flop, the memory of which is based on dispersive bistability in a single vertical cavity semiconductor optical amplifier, is demonstrated experimentally. Flip-flop control is achieved using two mechanisms: cross-phase modulation to set the flip-flop and cross-gain modulation of the holding beam within a remote SOA to reset it. Optical control signals are sub-milliwatt in pow...
